Proposition for the Auto® 2011 design competition the Dacia R1 represents a new type of sports car for the developing countries of eastern Europe. The concept design is primarily based around reducing of costs, relative low tech and lightweight construction with a minimal design approach to capture the essence of a small performance car. Whilst equipped with four in-wheel electric motors and a battery housed in the belly of the chassis, the methodology is to bring a sports car-like performance to a lower price
